- I have an A3000 and a NEC CDR-25 CD-ROM drive. Sometimes the SCSI
- controller locks up on me, and I have to turn the CD-ROM off and on to
- free it up (sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't). I understand I
- need an upgraded SCSI chip for my A3000 motherboard, so I'm looking for
- one now. Is this easy to replace, like pull out a chip and pop another
- one in, or is soldering involved? I don't mind removing the casing and
- pulling a chip, but soldering is a little more touchy...
-
- BTW, I have one internal SCSI hard drive besides the CD-ROM. But I also
- want to be able to add an external removable drive (cartridge kind) soon,
- so will this chip also let me daisy-chain external devices with no
- problem?
-
- If anyone has a newer SCSI chip for the A3000 that will work better with
- my multiple SCSI devices, please e-mail me with the details.
-
- Thanks.
